OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

All Saints Outreach ministry is important in growing and spreading the Christian word and faith.  Our goal is to reach outside our parish to help people in need.  We focus primarily on the local Bolingbrook community.

We have partnered with three local elementary schools to identify specific needs throughout the year.  Father Talabi has a tremendous relationship with the schools which allows us to be flexible to react as their needs evolve.

Our collection for the Ronald McDonald House in Winfield is currently underway. It looks to be a success. Thank you! They are always so grateful for donations from All Saints. Watch the Outreach bulletin board outside the library for updates, notes and status reports.

In May, we will be collecting items for the West Suburban Community Pantry. May is the month for Kids Feeding Kids at the Pantry. They ask for kid-friendly items so they can be packed in snack bags for struggling families, as summer approaches. We’ll post a copy on the bulletin board next month. We appreciate your continued support of our Outreach projects. Thank you so very much!

BACKPACKS FULL OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES

WEST SUBURBAN COMMUNITY PANTRY

We hold several food drives during the year to benefit this worthy cause.  They host thousands of meals per year for the hungry in our area.  We also make cash donations thanks to our parishoners.

THE MITTEN TREE & CHRISTMAS REQUESTS

We provide Christmas gifts to children who have made specific requests. The requests are often for clothing staples like under garments and shirts or pants.  But, we try to spice it up by adding age appropriate Christmas toys also.  Parishoners can donate new hats, gloves and mittens by pinning them to the Mitten tree.

WINTER COAT CAMPAIGN

The Winter Outerwear Collection campaign provides winter coats for three local elementary schools.

THE OUTREACH COMMITTEE

Are you interested in working on charitable events in the area?  If so, join our team.  Father Talabi is chairman.

PACKING NECESSARY SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR LOCAL CHILDREN

At All Saints Church we truly want to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Because of this, we go into our community and look for ways to serve! Here we are putting school supplies in backpacks for a local elementary school.

The Youth Group lends its time to help elementary school children in need of yearly school supplies.  The schools provide us with the list for each student.  Our parishoners purchase the supplies and the youth group helps the outreach committee by packing each backpack for the students.

The Outreach Committee is also still looking for gently used backpacks or ‘under-the-airplane-seat’ sized bags to donate to the Joliet Children's Home and Aid Society! So far approximately 52 backpacks/small suitcases have been provided to children and young adults who are either going to a foster home or aging out of the program. (At age 18 they are given a small amount of cash and a black trash bag for release.) Estate and garage sales are a great resource for purchasing such items inexpensively, as are charity stores (e.g. Goodwill) or other resale shops. If you have any more backpacks or small suitcases, please bring them to church and Father Talabi will take them to Joliet in a timely fashion.
